About Mrs. Thomas...
This is my 19th year teaching Spanish. This will be my 14th year at BHS. I previously taught Spanish as a specials class at Buford Academy. I have two little Buford Wolves, Emma (10 years) and Lucía (8 years). As a student, Spanish was my favorite subject (of course!), and I love sharing my knowledge with others. You may also notice that I have a minor in music, so I like to incorporate it into my lessons when I can. That means that you may have to put up with some of my silly songs and chants to help you remember verb endings and such. You will thank me when you are trying to remember these things for a test! ;)
You may have heard people say that it is more difficult to learn a language when you don't start at a young age, but I want to encourage you that it can be done! I didn't start learning Spanish until I was in high school, so I understand how you may feel! Whether you plan to continue studying Spanish or are just trying to take care of your two year language class requirement for college, I believe you can do this, and you'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish! A positive attitude and willingness to work hard will go a long way to ensure that you make the most out of your experience, and remember that I'm here to help you in any way that I can!

- I love to travel and have visited many countries, including Spain, Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Morocco, France, and Portugal.
- I play the piano and the flute, and I am currently learning to play the guitar along with my daughter, Lucía.
- I was a member of the marching band all four years in high school (flag line during marching season & played the flute during symphonic band season).
- I was a member of the Atlanta Olympic Band flag line in 1996 and we performed in the opening and closing ceremonies.
- I attend 12Stone Church and love it!
I love being able to communicate in another language, and I want to share that with others. That's why I love being a Spanish teacher!
Looking forward to another great year at BHS!
